Environment

The area is known for its beautiful fynbos, and is a popular bird-watching spot, with many hiking and horse trails. The coastal area of Mossel Bay (35km) has many holiday attractions – shopping, restaurants, sight-seeing, whale watching and entertainment.

On the other side of Robinson pass is the Little Karoo, where Oudtshoorn (50km) offers ostrich farms and the well-known Cango Caves. Many game reserves dot the area, like Botlierskop, Garden Route Game Lodge, and others. Further afield a visit to Buffelsdrift Game Lodge will not go amiss.

The region is very well-known as one of the world’s best golfing destinations: Fancourt, Pinnacle Point, Oubaai, and Pezula, amongst others. Eight Bells is very environmentally aware and friendly – see our “Green Matters” document below.
