Here at Eight Bells, we understand and value the importance of family and community. In fact, it is our greatest asset. For many guests, it takes but a moment to recognize that the true heart of Eight Bells is our wonderful staff. Their knowledge and experience, friendly demeanor, flexibility, and genuine kindness is unrivaled. They truly embody the phrase “Country Hospitality”.
For decades, we have hired almost exclusively from the local community of Ruiterbos, which means that many of our current staff are second, third, and even fourth generation members of the Eight Bells team. The familial love and commitment to the hotel extends far beyond the Bongers family – for Eight Bells has been an integral part as well as a point of pride for many Ruiterbos families for decades. Our current staff is comprised of sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, grandmothers, cousins, nephews, and uncles – a unique network of family and friends.
On average, our members of staff have dedicated more than 10 years of service at Eight Bells, with many surpassing 20, 30, and even 40 years! Most unbelievably, in November 2024, Oom Cornelius passed his 50th anniversary of working at Eight Bells – an amazing achievement that is nearly unheard of elsewhere.
Their collective experience and genuine kindness have created a warm and welcoming environment in which all guests are treated like family!
